Dr. Daniel Polisar

 Polisar currently serves as the president of the Shalem Center, a post he has held since 2002. He is co-editor of Choosing Freedom: Economic Policy for Israel, 1997-2000 (Shalem Press, 1997), and wrote his doctoral dissertation for Harvard on the failure of democratization in the Palestinian Authority. In 1993, Polisar founded Peace Watch, a non-partisan organization that monitored Israeli and Palestinian compliance with the Oslo Accords, and headed the observer team during the January 1996 Palestinian elections. Polisar received his BA in politics summa cum laude from Princeton University and his PhD from Harvard University in government. He was the recipient of Truman and Fulbright scholarships and a Mellon Fellowship. Before becoming president of the Shalem Center, he served as the Center's Research Director, as editor-in-chief of Azure, and as Academic Director. Polisar's most recent article in Azure was "Israel's Constitutional Moment," which appeared in Azure 20 (Spring 2005). During the fall 2005 semester at the Shalem Center, he taught a course on "A Constitution for Israel."
